Intensive Outpatient Program in New Jersey

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Provides Concentrated Daily Support In An Outpatient Setting To Help Those Struggling With Addiction Work Towards Lasting Recovery.

Most patients who suffer from a substance use disorder assume that residential or inpatient treatment is the only option. While this may be true for some patients, there are multiple levels of care that blend the needs of the patient with the most effective treatment to nurture long-term recovery.

At Epiphany Wellness drug and alcohol treatment center, we believe intensive outpatient therapy is one of the most effective programs to promote both focused treatment without requiring overnight residence.

Intensive Outpatient Therapy in New Jersey is a concentrated level of support that offers access and accountability to daily care and treatment with enough personal freedom to develop a strong sense of autonomy.
Under the care of our medical and clinical staff, patients will learn to challenge negative thoughts, emotions, and patterns. You will be taught mindfulness and how to reinforce coping skills and habit-breaking techniques to practice new, healthier practices.

Intensive Outpatient Therapy vs Outpatient Therapy

intensive outpatient program new jersey

Both intensive outpatient therapy (IOP) and outpatient therapy (OT) has the singular goal of supporting substance use disorder recovery. IOP is a more intensive, concentrated, and comprehensive level of care and support for those who need it.

The American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) defines the minimum level of care for an IOP program to be 9 hours per week for up to 90 days. There will be a greater number of sessions than standard outpatient therapy to give more time to therapists and counselors and a greater number of group sessions for community support.

At Epiphany Wellness, we believe that patients must develop their own sense of recovery and need some elements of normal routine to do so. While patients receive long hours of care and treatment each day, they can still go home every night to sleep in their own bed.
It’s concentrated healing with flexibility and freedom.
It’s not a weakness to admit you, or a loved one needs a higher level of care. It’s empowering.

The Epiphany Wellness Intensive Outpatient Program Process

Each patient’s journey is different, and it may be required to complete an inpatient or partial hospitalization program before beginning IOP.

Our compassionate and experienced admissions team will help you or someone you care about determines the most successful path.

IOP is the ideal solution when you have family and career obligations. The flexibility it offers can be the lifeline you need to continue your recovery while still showing up for those you care about.

We’ve developed a detailed intake evaluation that gives our clinical and medical teams the insight they need to structure a treatment plan to match each patient’s needs.
Once a custom treatment plan is developed, the patient begins care as soon as possible.
At Epiphany Wellness, we specialize in a unique blend of therapies and modalities that bring the best of medicine and humanity together.
Driven by our goal to ensure lasting success, we approach each care plan with the individual needs of the patient in mind.

After the IOP program is completed, it doesn’t mean the care is done. The nature of substance use disorders is the trajectory of relapse. This can be a disheartening and dangerous setback.

To decrease that risk, a long-term aftercare plan will be developed and implemented to promote relapse prevention.

Our caring and experienced team are ready to introduce you or a loved one to the first stages of recovery.
The finish line starts here. And we’ll be there every step of the way.

What To Expect At Our Intensive Outpatient Program

Individualized Care

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) provides a detailed list of medical and mental criteria to aid in diagnosing the severity of each patient’s substance use disorder.

Diagnoses range from mild and moderate to severe. Depending on the results, a treatment plan is prescribed. If your diagnosis is determined to be mild or moderate, an IOP program would be the first step to beginning recovery.

If the severity is more serious, a higher level of care, such as PHP or inpatient programs, may be required.

IOP is also the recommended course of action for anyone suffering from co-occurring conditions, such as anxiety or depression, a serious health complication, in addition to substance use disorder.

Innovative + Proven Modalities

As an intensive outpatient program in NJ, we use many different successful and unique addiction treatment models that treat dual diagnosis conditions.

Epiphany Wellness modalities include:
Throughout the course of treatment, patients will be required to participate in both 1:1 and group therapy sessions and will also have the opportunity to participate in 12-step peer support programs.

IOP Timeline

Most inpatient programs require patients to live on-site, full time and can last between 30 to 90 days. While a worthy investment, it can be more of a commitment than every patient needs.

Our intensive outpatient therapy program will be at least 9 hours per week for at least 90 days after the patient has completed drug & alcohol detox. If the patient or the care team feels more time is needed to see lasting success, we will reevaluate the treatment plan and make any adjustments as needed.

During the IOP program, patients will have the freedom to live at home while still regularly attending therapy during the day.
